π Guide
- Congratulations on reaching level 40! A major milestone for purchasing your mount alone, which will increase your movement speed by 60% as you explore the world.
- Purchase riding training and a mount from your race's riding trainer for 100 gold (80 gold for the mount and 20 gold for training). Every race has a different mount. For example the Troll riding trainer is back in Sen'jin Village and teaches you how to ride a Raptor, while the Orc riding trainer is in Orgrimmar and teaches you how to ride a Wolf. It's possible to obtain other mounts later through PvP and reputation.
- If you don't have enough gold for a mount I recommend running dungeons and selling whatever drops there, or asking around town for some gold for a new player's mount.
- Level 40 also brings new class quests, skills, talents, zones (Feralas, Tanaris, The Hinterlands), and another dungeon: Uldaman. Purchase level 40 skills if affordable and see if your class trainer has a class quest. For example Warlocks have a quest to summon their very own Felsteed mount instead of spending gold to purchase a mount like everybody else!
- Try to find a group for Scarlet Monastery Cathedral, Razorfen Downs, or Uldaman in the next few levels. Use the Group Finder with 'i', or ask for help in /LookingForGroup or /lfg chat depending on your server.
- Discover Feralas, a new zone west of Thousand Needles. Quests are located at Camp Mojache.
- Discover The Hinterlands, a new zone north of the Arathi Highlands entrance. Quests are located at Revantusk Village on the eastern coast of the zone.
- Explore Tanaris, south of The Shimmering Flats, Thousand Needles. Quests are located in Gadgetzan, which we discovered earlier at level 29.
- Get started on level 40+ quests in Stranglethorn Vale from Booty Bay such as Skullsplitter Tusks, The Bloodsail Buccaneers, Up to Snuff, and Scaring Shaky. Head north from Booty Bay to work on all three. Kill any Mastery targets such as the Jungle Stalkers towards the west coast for Raptor Mastery.
- Head back to Swamp of Sorrows and continue the quests there such as the chain Lack of Surplus that will have you killing Sawtooth Crocolisk and Sawtooth Snappers in the area.
- Head back to Dustwallow Marsh to take on some level 40+ quests that are detailed at level 41.
